This website provides a design code for the development of the masterplan for a riverside residential development at Oxpens.

 

Through analysis of the site, the masterplan, reference to urban design literature and illustrative examples it aims to give a clear vision for development, evidence to support the code, specific and easy to follow information for each coded element and a clear picture of the impact of coding on the function and feel of the buildings and area.  

ABOUT

 

This section includes my conclusions and reflections about this work and explains the context of this website as undergraduate course work at Oxford Brookes University.

REVISED DESIGN

 

This section looks at how the code will impact the masterplan with a revised design. This is analysed in terms of the 4 objectives of diversity, walkability, flexibility and environmental efficiency, identifying the codes that impacts each of these objectives and translating their collective impact on the feel and function of the development. The tested code is summarised in the regulating plan.

DESIGN CODES

 

This sections begins with identifying the design code area and the 4 buildings and 2 open spaces that are covered by the code. Each element of code is looked at in the whole in terms of how it influences the function and feel of the development and so contributes to the realisation of the vision. The code detail is specified in relation to the 4 diiferent buildings and 2 public spaces.
